A Note From Corby
I thought you might enjoy knowing how I got where I am today and why I wanted to start Corby Chic.
I grew up in the country in Oklahoma. Surrounded by farm animals, I would ride my horse and sing in our pasture full of wild flowers. And I would dream of what I would do with my life. I dreamed of many things: being a singer and performing in front of hundreds of people; being an actress and going to Hollywood; being a designer and creating beautiful jewelery and accessories.
As I got older, I still dreamed. Dreamed of being a model, an artist, a writer, a teacher, a fashion and beauty life-stylist, a city girl and yes, even a cow girl. I dreamed of being in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant. I dreamed of counseling women and motivating others to be everything they wanted to be. I dreamed of living in Beverly Hills and New York City. I dreamed of sitting at the table of dignitaries and great politicians. I dreamed of having friends all over the country. I dreamed of the man I wanted to marry – wonderful, funny, smart and gorgeous. And I dreamed of one day being a mother and having children. I dreamed of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Now as an aside, I never dreamed of living in Alaska, although I did for five years.
Dreams. Dreams. Dreams. We all have them. They are universal to human nature. I had really big dreams just like you probably do. Thankfully, I was blessed with parents who were inspiring, encouraging and believed in me. They had such faith in me and my abilities! They taught me to never give up, to embrace life and to believe I could achieve anything I set my mind to. They urged me to attend college – they felt it would help with all that might lie ahead for me.
They taught me to be a woman of faith and to keep God first at all times. My dad taught me about persistence and determination and “struggling with struggles.” My mom taught me that there was nothing more beautiful or cooler than just being yourself and loving it. What a gift and privilege it was to have those two people in my life.
I also dreamed one day of teaching women of all ages the priceless principles I was fortunate to learn throughout my life.
It would be my honor to help you accomplish your dreams and goals, and help you become the women you want to be.
What a gift that dreams really do come true.
